The biggest difference between it traditional solvent-based inks is that the solvents used in water-based inks are water ethanol, the VOC content is extremely low, it has little environmental pollution. At present, 95% of flexographic prints, 80% of gravure prints, 40% of plastic film prints in the United States are printed with water-based inks. Other developed countries are also using water-based inks in packaging printing. In recent years, my country has made some regulations on food packaging. The status of "green" printing is being continuously improved in my country, water-based inks have also been rapidly developed in China.

The main application fields of environmental protection ink in my country are flexographic printing, gravure printing screen printing. Due to its low VOC content in the solvent, it only has little pollution to the atmospheric environment, but also reduces the residual toxicity on the surface of the printed matter.

At present, the water-based ink in my country's flexible packaging is ranked first among other printing inks at 35%. With the development of scientific research personnel, the variety of water-based inks is also increasing, such as plastic ink, fluorescent ink, transparent ink, heat-resistant ink, bright ink, water-based gold silver ink water-based glazing oil ink, etc. have been applied .
